The Maski Ashoka Inscription is located about 88 kilometers to the south-east of Raichur in Karnataka, India. It was discovered by C. Beadon in 1915 and later studied in detail by archaeologist Robert Sewell. The inscription is situated on a large granite boulder and is written in the Brahmi script.
Ashoka appointed officials known as Dhamma Mahamatta. They travelled to different places in the empire and pdocHubed Dhamma to the subjects.
Inscription Details and Significance It consists of seven lines of inscriptions carved into the rock surface, providing us with a glimpse into the emperors thoughts and beliefs. The inscription primarily emphasizes Ashokas commitment to non-violence and the welfare of his subjects.
Solution: Inscriptions were the writings engraved on hard surfaces. They were written mostly on rocks, stones, walls of buildings, metals etc. They depicted important events of the past. Various languages such as Prakrit, Sanskrit, Kannada etc., were used for writing the inscriptions.
The term Satyaputra found in Ashokan inscriptions refers to one of the tribes or regions in South India during the reign of Emperor Ashoka of the Maurya Dynasty. In Ashokas inscriptions, particularly in the Major Rock Edicts, he mentions several groups and regions to whom he sent his messages of Dhamma (moral law).
Devanampriya Priyadarshi ( Devanampiya Piyadaasi) was used to refer to Ashoka.
