The inkjet ink binder is typically prepared by emulsion polymerization. The polymerization techniques used to prepare aqueous emulsion polymers are well known in the art.
Binders by Paint Type Acrylic Paints Acrylic paints are formulated with acrylic polymer emulsion binders. Highly durable, acrylic binders dry to a clear, flexible, water-resistant film. Oil Paints Oil paints are typically formulated with linseed, poppy, safflower or walnut oil binders.
Ink binders can be categorized into the following polymer and resin types: acrylics, polyurethanes, polyamides, modified resins, hydrocarbon resins, and modified cellulosics.
Ink binders are polymers that allow pigments and other components of ink to adhere the printing substrate and form films on the surface of the substrate.
Gelatin: this comes into play as a binding agent for inks. It is made from the boiled docHub tissue of cows and pigs. YIKES! Lastly, Shellac: this ingredient is used in tattoo ink and is made by crushing beetle shells, most commonly found in lady bugs.
Resins and binders are used to deliver desired protective and performance properties, enhanced aesthetic appeal, resistance to chemicals, water and abrasion resistance for a variety of materials, such as coatings for rigid substrates, inks, coatings for flexible substrates and adhesives.
