The bind() method of Function instances creates a new function that, when called, calls this function with its this keyword set to the provided value, and a given sequence of arguments preceding any provided when the new function is called.
The bind() function creates a new bound function. Calling the bound function generally results in the execution of the function it wraps, which is also called the target function. The bound function will store the parameters passed which include the value of this and the first few arguments as its internal state.
The equivalent of sprintf(%. 2f, num) in JavaScript seems to be num. toFixed(2) , which formats num to 2 decimal places, with rounding (but see @ars265s comment about Math. round below).
To avoid the need for binding we have something introduced in ES6 as arrow functions. Using the arrow function to call this. setState will lead to avoiding the use of bind.
Approach: In modern JS i.e. ES6, theres an alternative way to avoid having to bind this to event callbacks and that is using arrow functions. Due to certain properties of arrow functions, this can be accessed within the class methods or event callbacks without using bind().
call : Accepts arguments individually as a comma-separated list. apply : Accepts arguments as an array or array-like object. bind : Can preset arguments when creating the new function, but additional arguments can be passed when the new function is invoked.
The full syntax of bind : let bound = func . bind ( context , [ arg1 ] , [ arg2 ] , ) ; It allows to bind context as this and starting arguments of the function.
