Which file is best for photography JPEG or TIFF? A TIFF will enable you to store richer, more detailed images. Its good practice to save your original (or source) photos as TIFF files. JPEGs, meanwhile, might be a better choice for exporting your finished edits because theyre easier to share and print.
LZW A lossless compression type that supports multiple bit depths. Because its lossless, it produces files that are generally larger than other compressions. Use this compression if you want to retain the exact visual quality of the image without data loss or artifacts.
You attach a Raster File (image) in MicroStation via the Raster Reference Manager. Open the Raster Reference Manager. Select your Raster File, i.e. Image. Adjust your Raster Attachment Settings, if needed. Place the Raster in the design file in the position and size needed.
Compress TIFF File to Save Space LZW (Lempel-Ziv-Welch) and ZIP (Deflate) compression are two commonly used lossless compression methods for color TIFF images. A lossless compression method compresses the image data while still keeping all the original image data intact with no loss of quality.
Both LZW and ZIP will give good results. Use either with confidence. But for 16-bit TIFF files, its clear: use ZIP.
For the best print quality in Photoshop, we recommend using the following TIFF options: set the compression to LZW or ZIP to reduce file size without losing quality, choose the correct color profile (e.g., docHub RGB ), and ensure the resolution is set to 300 DPI, which is ideal for print output.
Both PNG and TIFF files benefit from lossless compression, meaning that no matter how often you save, open, or resize them, theyll maintain their quality.
Because of their large size, TIFF files usually arent used for everyday marketing content. While a TIFF file might be the original creative file, it will likely be converted to another format to be used in slide decks, websites, and other marketing materials. Avoid TIFF files for: Web graphics.
