When used inside Writer, the equation is treated as an object inside the text document. Calc Guide. To insert an equation, go to Insert Object Formula. The equation editor opens at the bottom of the screen, and the floating Selection window appears.
Click CTRL+SHIFT+END. This will select the last right cell used on the worksheet. Go to Edit -- Fill--Down or CTRL+D. This will fill the value in the remaining cells.
For a subscript, use press CTRL + Shift + B. The superscript and subscript functions are also available through the menu Format - Character, on the Position tab. The best way to enter a formula in Writer is to type = (or F2) in a cell to get the formula toolbar, then whenever you need a cell reference in the formula, click the mouse in the table cell you want to refer to. The correct address of that cell will be entered into the formula for you.
Type an equal sign and a function, for example =MIN. MIN finds the smallest number in a range of cells. Type an opening parenthesis, select the range of cells that you want to include in the formula, and then type a closing parenthesis. Press RETURN.
Creating formulas is as simple as typing the equal sign (=) followed by the necessary references, numbers, operators, and functions into the chosen cell and then hitting the Enter/Return key.
Syntax: RANK(number; set; order) You give it a value, a set, and RANK will tell you if the given number is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on. RANK returns 3, indicating that your company is the third largest player on the market.
In Writer, position the cursor where you want to insert the formula, then go to the menu Insert Object Formula and then paste your formula.
