You can configure a Mac to access basic user account information in a Microsoft Active Directory domain of a Windows 2000 (or later) server.
Mac OS X Open the Directory Utility. 10.7 and above: In System Preferences, click Users and Groups, then click Login Options. If Active Directory is NOT checked, then your computer is not joined to an Active Directory. Look under the Active Directory Domain field for this entry:
To join a computer to a domain Navigate to System and Security, and then click System. Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, click Change settings.
