Your heart pumps blood to your entire body through a network of blood vessels known as the circulatory system. Your blood supplies the cells in your body with the oxygen and nutrients they need. If youamp;#39;ve had a heart attack or stroke, or have angina peripheral arterial disease or coronary artery disease, your doctor may prescribe you aspirin. Aspirin reduces your risk of blood clots. A blood clot is made up of fibrin - long strands of proteins that form a net. Platelets and cells clump together and stick to this net, forming a clot. Aspirin interrupts the clotting process by stopping an enzyme, called COX-1, from working. This interruption makes platelets and cells less sticky so they canamp;#39;t clump together and form a clot. The BHF is funding a clinical trial to find out how long patients should take aspirin after a heart attack.

Cardiac troponin T (TnT) is an even more sensitive and specific marker for myocardial damage.
Myoglobin, FABP, and GPBB are early biomarkers in the diagnosis of AMI. TnT and TnI are late markers. CK-MB is a remarkable AMI biomarker in the first 1012 hours. An increase in TnI is an indicator of myocardial injury if CK-MB is within normal limits.
Acute myocardial infarction with rupture and tamponade, gross. Intermediate (healing) myocardial infarction (1 - 2 weeks), microscopic. Remote myocardial infarction (3 to 4 weeks), microscopic. Remote myocardial infarction (2 months), microscopic.
Symptoms Chest pain that may feel like pressure, tightness, pain, squeezing or aching. Pain or discomfort that spreads to the shoulder, arm, back, neck, jaw, teeth or sometimes the upper belly. Cold sweat. Fatigue. Heartburn or indigestion. Lightheadedness or sudden dizziness. Nausea. Shortness of breath.
In most clinical settings, cardiac troponin is the cardiac enzyme of choice, and other enzymes should not be routinely used. There are many reasons for this, but ultimately, troponin has been shown to be more specific and more sensitive to cardiac injury.
Cardiac troponin. It has the highest known sensitivity. It enters into your bloodstream soon after a heart attack. It also stays in your bloodstream days after all other biomarkers go back to normal levels.
Cardiac troponin (cTn), expressed as three similar isoforms (I, C, and T), is the biomarker of choice for the diagnosis of myocardial necrosis because it is the most sensitive and specific biochemical marker of myocardial ischemia/necrosis available [6].
Currently the natriuretic peptides are the most commonly used biomarker and help in the diagnosis and prognostication of patients with heart failure.
