dot blot is a quick and easy method for detecting biological samples like proteins or nucleic acids it follows a similar principle to western blotting and southern blotting except the sample is not blotted from a gel instead samples are dotted directly onto a membrane before being probed for detection because dot blot is so simple itamp;#39;s used to support many different applications these include monitoring labeling efficiency with various probes estimating the concentration of a specific protein in a sample and comparing the performance of different antibodies as an example letamp;#39;s consider how a dot blot would be used to determine the labeling efficiency where a sample has been labeled with biotin this involves comparing the labeled sample to a known biotinylated reference standard first make serial dilutions of the test sample and the reference standard ensuring that both are diluted in exactly the same way a 10-fold serial dilution is a good place to start as it gives a w

What this means is that CNAME/MX/NS records (anything where the target is a hostname) must end with a . to indicate that it is a FQDN. The exception to this is that if it is simply a short name (i.e. no dots) then DNSControl will add the domain to it.
Its a little-known fact, but fully-qualified (unambiguous) DNS domain names have a dot at the end. People running DNS servers usually know this (if you miss the trailing dots out, your DNS configuration is unlikely to work) but the general public usually doesnt.
The domain name cannot start or end with a space or a special character such as a hyphen (-), a plus sign (+), an at sign (@), or an ampersand ().
Dots (.) in a URL are used to separate domain names and subdomains.
Can I have a domain name with a dot before it? If there is a dot before the final domain name, such as . example .com , it means there is a sub domain to the left. If you have not set up a subdomain, there will be no DNS entry for what was supposed to be there on the left so it will not route.
Domain names can only use letters, numbers, the fada character (acute accent) and hyphens (-). Spaces and other symbols are not permitted for use. Names cannot begin or end with a hyphen and are not case sensitive. Domains cannot exceed 63 characters.
The dot ( . ) is the character that was defined to be the delimiter in domain names (see DNS). It delimits the labels in a domain name. The domain name .google.com consists of three labels: com (aka. the top-level domain)
Adding the dot to the end of the domain name makes it an absolute fully-qualified domain name instead of just a regular fully-qualified domain name, and most browsers treat absolute domain names as being a different domain from the equivalent regular domain name (Im not sure why they do this though).
