What is a DNS record? DNS records (aka zone files) are instructions that live in authoritative DNS servers and provide information about a domain including what IP address is associated with that domain and how to handle requests for that domain.
The DNS text (TXT) record lets a domain administrator enter text into the Domain Name System (DNS). The TXT record was originally intended as a place for human-readable notes. However, now it is also possible to put some machine-readable data into TXT records. One domain can have many TXT records.
How to lookup TXT records on Windows. To check the TXT records for a certain domain name on Windows, follow these steps: Open a command prompt by navigating to Start Type here to search cmd Open. Type nslookup -q=txt example.com and hit [enter] to get the TXT records for example.com .
TXT records serve a variety of purposes, including domain ownership verification, email spam prevention and framework policies. They also provide general information and points of contact for the domain. TXT records have no specific formatting requirements, but theyre not meant for large amounts of data.
TXT records also have a Time-to-Live value in seconds, like all other DNS records. A simple example TXT record for example.org with a TTL of 3600 seconds (one hour) might look like this: example.org. 3600 TXT Welcome to the example domain!
A typical TXT record looks like the following in standard BIND format: $ORIGIN example.com. ; designates the start of this zone file in the namespace @ 3600 IN TXT You can put any text ; A TXT record for example.com. @ 3600 IN TXT v=spf1 a:mail.example.com -all ; An SPF record for example.com. mail.
You have two options: Simply add multiple TXT records under ZoneRunner or directly into the zone file with the same name. e.g. IN TXT v=spf1 a mx ptr ip4:65.49.39.200/29 IN TXT DZC=DlaVBmG Update the existing record with a space between the values e.g. IN TXT v=spf1 a mx ptr ip4:65.49.39.200/29 DZC=DlaVBmG
