An ACL is a collection of one or more rules. A rule refers to a judgment statement that describes a packet matching condition, which may be a source address, destination address, or port number. An ACL is essentially a rule-based packet filter.
This option permits users with the admin role to automatically pass the permissions check for this ACL rule regardless of what script or role restrictions apply. However, the nobody role takes precedence over the Admin Overrides option.
The Name field in an Access Control specifies the table records and a field to protect. The field list has a --None-- option and a * option. --None--: Grant access to records and all fields in the records. *: Grant access to all fields where there is no field-specific Access Control.
Understand ACL Execution Order: ACLs are executed based on the order specified in the system. This order includes the Application field, Table field, and Order field in the ACL record. Understanding this order helps in resolving conflicts and ensuring that the correct rules are enforced.
The ACL is executed in the below order: The condition must evaluate to true. The script must evaluate to true or return an answer variable with the value of true. The user must have one of the roles in the required roles list.
To add or remove access control list (ACL) entries from a file or directory, get the FileSecurity or DirectorySecurity object from the file or directory. Modify the object, and then apply it back to the file or directory.
The precedence of the three types, from highest to lowest, is ACL Rule for Public, ACL Rule for User, and ACL Rule for Group. When applying ACL checks, if any higher-precedence rule type passes, the authorization is resolved and the process stops.
The default-root ACL policy is a basic policy that enables everyone to traverse the object space, but they cannot do any other actions. Typically, you would not need to change this setting.
