todays project starts off with a piece of oh one tool steel [Music] and I know this isnt ideal workholding sticking out of the vise like this but I take it slow enough it should be okay the alternative was getting a wider tool steel so that I could cut the other way but it was just too expensive so this cutter here is just a 3/8 inch for flute rougher the corncob style then I wanted to get some relief on the cutting edge so Im using a tapered end mill here so that also shows that this forming tools being cut upside down the purpose for that was so that I could use this tapered end mill to put that relief on it unless we have the shape and the relief we just cut it off from the parent stock so here it is this forming tool is basically making just a ball and you can see that taper there but this is gonna be kind of floppy sticking down with a tool holder so I went ahead and cut a support block to go under it out of aluminum just to keep it from bouncing around and putting shatter on
