To ensure that the new chapter does appear on a separate page, insert a page break immediately following the text at the end of the chapter. To add a page break, click Insert, and Page Break, then OK. A page break can also be created by holding down the Control key, then pressing Enter.
Select the paragraph that you want to follow the page break. On the Format menu, click Paragraph, and then click the Line and Page Breaks tab. Select the Page break before check box.
To insert a section break: Place the insertion point where you want to create the break. On the Page Layout tab, click the Breaks command, then select the desired section break from the drop-down menu. A section break will appear in the document.
A page break or hard page break is a code inserted by a software program (e.g., word processor) telling the printer where to end the current page and begin the next. After inserting the Page Break, a symbol indicating the Page Break is shown, and the cursor is placed on the next page.
Try it! Select Layout. In the Paragraph group, select the small arrow. In the Paragraph dialog box, select Line and Page Breaks. Under Pagination, choose the option that works best for you: Widow/Orphan control. Keep with next. Keep lines together. Page break before.
Use page breaks to control where a page ends and where a new page begins. Place the cursor where you want to start a new page.
Put your cursor where you want one page to end and the next to begin. Go to Insert Page Break.
Go to Layout Breaks Page. Click or tap in the document where you want a page break. Go to Insert Page Break.
Once you remove the page break, there should be a line space. If you click in that line and select Edit - Clear - Contents, the table should rejoin. I then needed to select the table, then right-click and selected distribute columns evenly, same with rows if needed. Hope that helps.
If you select to view the non-printing characters in a document after you set page breaks in Word, you will see that a manual page break is identifiable by the words Page Break in the center of a dashed line within the document.
