Copying equations created in Word In Words main menu, select Preferences. In the Authoring and Proofing Tools section, select Equations. Under When copying an equation, choose Copy MathML to the clipboard as plain text. Select the Design tab, then use the Equation Tool to create your formula. Copy your formula.
Select Insert Equation or press Alt + =. To use a built-in formula, select Design Equation. To create your own, select Design Equation Ink Equation.
To number an equation in Word, select the equation and go to References Insert Caption, then click New Label and choose your number format. To label the equation, change the Label option in the Caption dialog box to Equation.
On the Insert tab, click Cross-reference. In the Reference type box, click the drop-down list to pick what you want to link to. The list of whats available depends on the type of item (heading, page number, etc.) youre linking to.
To reference a LaTeX table or equation in LaTeX you need to make sure that you insert a label in your table or equation and that such label has a tab: prefix for tables and a eqn: prefix for equations.
Put parentheses around equation numbers; dont use the word Equation unless after a period. Figure/Table/Algorithm X, with no parentheses. Parentheses are reserved for equations, and square brackets for citations.
In the Advanced Caption Options dialog, go to the Equation Caption section, type ( in the Prefix box, type ) in the Suffix box, select Middle from the Vertical drop down list, keep Right selected in the Horizontal drop down list, and click the OK button.
Equations are centered on the page and labeled with Arabic numerals, right-aligned, in parentheses, and referred to only by those numbers in the text e.g., you should always say as seen in (3) rather than as seen in Equation (3).
Try it! Select Insert Equation or press Alt + =. To use a built-in formula, select Design Equation. To create your own, select Design Equation Ink Equation. Use your finger, stylus, or mouse to write your equation. Select Insert to bring your equation into the file.
In the text, write the sentence which refers to the equation but instead of explicitly writing the number, click on Insert Cross-reference, then choose Reference Type Bookmark and Insert Reference to bookmark text and click OK.
