In this tutorial, Rob Price, MS Safeties Program and Resource Director, introduces Lui Juani, who will demonstrate how to teach first aid assessment. The session focuses on four key objectives: 1) Understanding the three phases of assessment; 2) Demonstrating an initial assessment; 3) Knowing when to call 9-1-1 in specific situations; and 4) Prioritizing life-threatening conditions, such as respiratory arrest or severe bleeding. Students must ensure their own safety during assessments and only move a patient for life-saving treatment or if the scene becomes unsafe. Controlling severe bleeding is emphasized before administering other treatments like splinting.
