Buenos dias, buen dia, buenas tardes. Good morning. Good day. Good evening. My name is Parviz Malakouti. I am an immigration lawyer and im going to show you in this video how to read the US visa bulletin. The Visa Bulletin is used to determine how long the relatives of green card holders and US citizens have to wait before a visa is made available to them. In short, its just kind of like a waiting list. So lets get right into it. First of all, we go to google and we are going to find the most recent Visa Bulletin available. Todays date is February 26 2019. We already have the march visa bulletin available to us. So were going to click on March. This takes us to the Department of State website and heres a lot of text and a lot of charts here. We want to focus on the charts in section 4a and 4b. okay, so we have to determine which of these two charts that we are going to use. So the way we do that is we go to the last paragraph in section 4B. It says visit uscis.gov/visabullet

A priority date is the date an alien initially expresses his or her intent to immigrate to the U.S. through an appropriate petition. For employment-based petitions requiring approved PERM labor certification applications, the priority date is the date on which the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) receives ETA Form 9089.
Approximately 6 to 12 Months After Filing Again, the number of immigrant visas (green cards) issued to immediate relatives of U.S. citizens is unlimited. Most Form I-130 petitions for immediate relatives are approved within a 6 to 12 month time frame, but they can take longer in some cases.
Number of Visas Each Year is Limited in Some Categories For limited categories, the availability of immigrant visa numbers depends on the date your petition was filed and the number of others waiting for the same visa category. The date your petition was filed is called your priority date.
Your priority date is generally the date when your relative or employer properly filed the immigrant visa petition on your behalf with USCIS.
A: The Date for Filing on the Visa Bulletin represents the earliest date when an applicant may be able to submit documents for the last stage of the green card process through Adjustment of Status.
How Accurate is the USCIS Processing Times? The processing times on the USCIS website are updated with 1-month-old or 2 months old data, depending on the type of application. Considering this, you can be certain that the data is relatively accurate for most applications.
Important terms in the Visa Bulletin Priority date: This is the date that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) received your I-130 petition. Think of this date as your place in the green card line. You can find your priority date on the I-797 form mailed by USCIS approving your I-130 petition.
Time for Case to Become Current. For certain categories of immigrants, the law allows only a limited number of visas to be issued each year. These cases are processed strictly in order of the date the petition was filed (this is the priority date).
