Annotation-based programming is an extensible mechanism for generating application artifacts, packaging the application, and readying the application for execution. Annotation-based programming offers a set of tags and a processing mechanism that allow you to embed additional metadata in your Java source code.
We can define the scope of a bean as a prototype using the scope=prototype attribute of the element or using @Scope(value = ConfigurableBeanFactory. SCOPEPROTOTYPE) annotation.
Declaring a Bean and Example To declare a bean, simply annotate a method with the @Bean annotation. You use this method to register a bean definition within an ApplicationContext of the type specified as the methods return value. By default, the bean name will be the same as the method name.
A scope annotation applies to a class containing an injectable constructor and governs how the injector reuses instances of the type. By default, if no scope annotation is present, the injector creates an instance (by injecting the types constructor), uses the instance for one injection, and then forgets it.
When a spring bean is scoped as a prototype, the Spring IoC container creates new bean instance every time when a request is made for that bean. We can define the scope of a bean as prototype using scope=prototype attribute of element or using @Scope(value = ConfigurableBeanFactory. SCOPEPROTOTYPE) annotation.
Annotating scope annotations with @Scope helps the injector detect the case where a programmer used the scope annotation on a class but forgot to configure the scope in the injector. A conservative injector would generate an error rather than not apply a scope.
What Does Annotation Mean? Annotation is a term used in computer programming to refer to documentation and comments that may be found on code logic. Annotation is typically ignored once the code is executed or compiled.
Spring Bean Scopes singleton - only one instance of the spring bean will be created for the spring container. prototype A new instance will be created every time the bean is requested from the spring container. request This is same as prototype scope, however its meant to be used for web applications.
