In this tutorial, Stuart Walsh from the Inventors Learning Center discusses patent ownership and the process of assignments that allows for changing ownership. Initially, an invention belongs to the inventor, but once it becomes a patent or patent application, its ownership can be transferred. Patents are considered intellectual property and can change hands for various reasons. Common examples include employees assigning their patents to employers when inventions are made during employment and the employer funds the patent process. Additionally, companies may transfer patents or portfolios of patents as part of their business operations. For more details, viewers are encouraged to subscribe and visit their website.

The corrective document must include the following: (A) A copy of the original assignment document with the corrections made therein. The corrections must be initialed and dated by the party conveying the interest; and. (B) A new Recordation Form Cover Sheet (form PTO-1595) (See MPEP 302.07).
You can change the claims of a patent without filing a new application unless you are making a new claim. If you are making a new claim, you will need to file a new patent application. Federal regulations governing the USPTO provide specific rules for amending patent claims.
Change of Owner (Assignment) and Change of Owner Name The original owner should record the assignment or name change with the USPTOs Assignment Recordation Branch by filing a Recordation Cover Sheet along with a copy of the actual assignment or proof of name change.
A Latin term meaning now for then. Generally, this refers to an action taken by a court that applies retroactively to correct an earlier ruling.
Trademark Assignment. (Nunc Pro Tunc) This form is a nunc pro tunc trademark assignment between an assignor and assignee. It may be used to memorialize in writing a prior oral agreement to assign a trademark. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and alternate clauses.
Latin for now for then. A doctrine that permits a court to change records so that they show what actually happened. For example, if a party filed his motion on January 5, but the clerks office had erroneously treated it as filed on January 6, the judge could correct the records to show the right date.
When A Judgment Or Sentence Is Not Properly Recorded. If a judgment or a sentence in a criminal proceeding is not properly entered in a trial courts record, the trial court may retroactively enter the judgment or the sentence. Such a proceeding is called a nunc pro tunc proceeding.
Trademark owners may need to transfer ownership or change the name on their application or registration. This could happen while your trademark application is being examined or after your trademark has registered.
