Prayerfully take the first line or phrase of the passage and insert your own name, as if it were addressed to you. Meditate on the words as they are spoken to you. What is your response to the reading? Write down your honest reply.
When citing a passage of scripture, include the abbreviated name of the book, the chapter number, and the verse numbernever a page number. Chapter and verse are separated by a colon. Example: 1 Cor. 13:4, 15:12-19.
To copy from the Context Menu: Select the verse(s) you want to copy. Open the Context Menu by right-clicking your selection. Ensure the Selection option has been chosen on the left side of the menu. Choose the copy option you want to use next to Copy verse.
Parenthetical Citations: The first time you reference a version of the Bible, in the in-text citations, give the name of the edition (italicized), followed by a comma and the abbreviated book (see back of handout), chapter, and verse. Use a period, not a colon, between the chapter and verse: John 3.16.
A common format for biblical citations is Book chapter:verses, using a colon to delimit chapter from verse, as in: In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth (Gen. 1:1).
Mark Your Favorite Verses With a Sticky Note at the Top of the Page. Write Out Lists. Mark Verses by Color. Find and Write Cross References. Use Sticky Notes for Long Notes. Write Your Questions and Inspiration in the Margins. Dissect Verses to Find New Meaning. Circle Important Words.
Select the text box you wish to use for the Bible text. Select the Object Properties tab on the right-hand tool palette and then select Bible Text from the Name menu. Select the text box you wish to use for the Bible reference.
