In this video Ill show you how you can leverage attribute traits in the Asset Framework to better define your data helping you and your users visualize data more easily. Ill also show you how to add limit traits to your attributes. But first what is an attribute trait? As we know, an element is a logical grouping of data, commonly a piece of equipment like a wind turbine. And attributes represent individual pieces of data belonging to the element like the turbines wind speed and rotor speed. An attribute trait is a very common piece of data. An example of an attribute trait is a high limit. Our turbines wind speed has a high limit of 110 and its rotor speed has a high limit of 25. So as you can see, high limits are quite common. The Asset Framework now includes an attribute trait that can be used to define high limits. Other attribute traits included in the current release include other limit conditions and forecasted

Categorizing Using xUnit Trait The Trait attribute receive two arguments. The first is the actual name of the category and the second argument is the subsection whiting the category. For example we have the category UI as a key and for value we have Front and Back .
The [Fact] attribute declares a test method thats run by the test runner. From the PrimeService.Tests folder, run dotnet test . The dotnet test command builds both projects and runs the tests. The xUnit test runner contains the program entry point to run the tests.
All xUnit frameworks share the following basic component architecture, with some varied implementation details. Test runner. Test case. Test fixtures. Test suites. Test execution. Test result formatter. Assertions.
xUnit uses the [Fact] attribute to denote a parameterless unit test, which tests invariants in your code. In contrast, the [Theory] attribute denotes a parameterised test that is true for a subset of data. That data can be supplied in a number of ways, but the most common is with an [InlineData] attribute.
Fact vs Theory Tests The primary difference between fact and theory tests in xUnit is whether the test has any parameters. Theory tests take multiple different inputs and hold true for a particular set of data, whereas a Fact is always true, and tests invariant conditions.
Using Traits and Projects for grouping Open up the Test Explorer, and choose the Group button. Compared to RTM we have now got 2 more options, Project and Trait. Under the menu the three test methods are listed based on Outcome. Changing that to Trait gives us the test grouped by their MSTest Category.
Create unit test project with Moq and NUnit integrated Follow these steps to add the test project: Step 1: Right-click on the project solution and select the Add - New Project option. Step 2: Select NUnit test project (. NET Core) and click Next.
As far as NUnit vs. XUnit vs. MSTest is concerned, the biggest difference between xUnit and the other two test frameworks (NUnit and MSTest) is that xUnit is much more extensible when compared to NUnit and MSTest. The [Fact] attribute is used instead of the [Test] attribute.
