macOS menu bar items Click the Apple menu and choose System Settings. Choose Control Center. You will see a list of Control Center modules. Click the menu next to one you want to add or remove from the menu bar and choose Show in menu bar, Dont show in menu bar, or Show when active.

In the Messages app on your Mac, choose Messages Settings, then click an option at the top of the window: General: Change general options such as the default text size or the sound that plays when you receive a message. iMessage: Set up and turn on iMessage.
Status menus You can choose which items to show in the menu bar. To rearrange status menus, press and hold the Command key while you drag an icon. To quickly remove a status menu, press and hold the Command key while you drag the icon out of the menu bar.
