On the Surface Style window, go to the Display tab and make visible the Triangles component. Now, select the surface in your workspace, so the TIN Surface Civil 3D tab appears on your ribbon. Then, go to Modify -- Edit Surface -- Delete Line. Then we select all the lines needed to remove the unwanted triangles.
You can add a clip, erase, or replace polygon. Clip polygons define a boundary for the TIN surface. Input data that falls outside the clip polygon is excluded from the interpolation and analysis operations. Erase polygons are also used to define a boundary for interpolation.
1 Raster data model However, raster data also has some limitations, such as large file sizes, loss of detail, and difficulty in representing curved features. A TIN, or Triangulated Irregular Network, is a type of vector data structure used in GIS to represent a continuous surface.
If the tolerance units are not set or are set to UNKNOWN, the units are assumed to be the same as those of the output vertical coordinate system. If the z-tolerance is less than twice the output geodatasets z-resolution value, a z-tolerance of two times the z-resolution will be used.
The number of points selected by the command is a function of the specified Z tolerance and the smoothness of the input raster. If a small Z tolerance is specified or the raster surface is topographically rough and complex, more points will be required to build the TIN.
TIN is a result of interpolation between measured elevation values. Unlike DEM, composed of regular grid, TIN facets have different sizes depending on data density. Therefore, TIN can describe terrain surface better. At the same time TINs are much more complex than DEMs and their production can be time consuming.
The file format is meant for storing triangulated terrain models. The file format can store both xyz points and triangles which connect the points. The triangle records are optional in the file. They may be left out of the file to save disc space if no manual editing of the surface has been done.
The maximum allowable difference in (z units) between the height of the input raster and the height of the output TIN. By default, the z tolerance is 1/10 of the z range of the input raster.
