hi and welcome students todays tutorial will cover Microsoft Word 2016 and how to modify a style lets go ahead and get started so you see that I have a Microsoft Word document right here and it looks like a research paper most research papers are written in APA or MLA format so that requires certain font paragraph and formatting options so if I want to change those options for a specific piece of text Im gonna have to go through highlight that text and change those options instead of doing this over and over and over again I could actually modify a style within my document so if you dont know what a style is you could see that as you click on different parts of the document they have different looks to them if you go to the Home tab and you go right over here to the Styles group you can see what the current look of that or the current style of that portion of the document it so for instance when I clicked right up here on Crystal Matheson it highlights around heading 2 if I click d

Go to Format Font Font. + D to open the Font dialog box. Select the font and size you want to use.
Select the Fonts tab. Change the Proportional font setting at the bottom from Times New Roman with size 12 to the font and size of your choice. For instance Arial with a size of 10 or Calibri with a size of 11.
Font styles Part of this text is written \textsl{in a different font style} to highlight it. If you want to go back to normal font style (default for the LaTeX class you are using), this can be done by using the \textnormal{} command or the \normalfont switch command.
On the Home tab, click the Font size drop-down arrow. Select a font size from the menu. If the font size you need is not available in the menu, you can click the Font size box and type the desired font size, then press Enter. The font size will change in the document.
We can change the shape of the font using these commands: \textit for Italic, \textsl for Slanted and \textsc for Small Capitals. Slanted is a non-cursive version of Italic. We can write in Bold by using \textbf command.
The simplest way to do that is to: Go to Format Font. Select the font you prefer. Click the Default button.
\setromanfont{Times New Roman} This is the normal font used in most of the document, Times New Roman in the example.
Change the font for all text using styles Click Format Text Styles. In the Item to Change list, click All, then select the font, size, or color you want for all text in the current view. Repeat this process for other views.
Changing default font typeface The font can also be changed for a specific element in the document. The command \fontfamily{qcr}\selectfont will set the TeX gyre cursor font typeface, whose fontcode is qcr , for the text inside the braces.
