And if you need to change the zone, heres how to do so: Shutdown / stop the instance. Right-click the instance and select Create Image to make an AMI from the instance. Go to the AMI page, right-click on the new AMI and select Launch Instance. In the new instance settings, choose a specific (different) availability zone.

You cant update the AMI of an instance without replacing it with a new instance. Typically you simply run the operating system updates - yum update / apt update upgrade / windows update.
Use the launch template to create a Spot Instance request Open the Amazon EC2 console. Choose Spot Instance, and then choose Request Spot Instance. Choose Launch templates, and then select your launch template. Choose the same Availability Zone as the EBS volume. Choose Create Spot Instance request.
The key difference between spot instances and on-demand instances is the pricing model and their availability. On-demand instances have a fixed price and are always available, while spot instances operate on a bidding system and are not guaranteed to be available.
