How can you change the instance type used in Auto Scaling group?

AWS does not allow to edit launch configuration. If you notice, we define instance type at time of launch configuration. So if you want to change instance type in Auto Scaling group than you need to create new launch configuration for that.

Can we modify an Auto Scaling group?

To update an Auto Scaling group, specify the name of the group and the property that you want to change. Any properties that you dont specify are not changed by this update request.

Why is change instance type greyed out?

Greyed out instance type means lack of AWS service quota. Therefore, it is necessary to create quota space by stopping other instances in use, or to apply for an increase in the quota limit on the AWS side.

Is it possible to change instance type?

You can change to any instance type that is compatible with your current instances configuration. However, some instance types may not be available due to architecture type, network settings, or region.

How do I add an instance to Auto Scaling group?

To attach an instance to an Auto Scaling group (Optional) On the navigation pane, under Auto Scaling, choose Auto Scaling Groups. On the navigation pane, under Instances, choose Instances, and then select an instance. Choose Actions, Instance settings, Attach to Auto Scaling Group.
