Descending or ascending. The stack grows downwards, starting with a high address and progressing to a lower one (a descending stack), or upwards, starting from a low address and progressing to a higher address (an ascending stack).
In general terms, Ascending means smallest to largest, 0 to 9, and/or A to Z and Descending means largest to smallest, 9 to 0, and/or Z to A.
If you want to sort some of the data in ascending order and other data in descending order, then you would have to use the ASC and DESC keywords. SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY column1 ASC, column2 DESC; That is how to use the ORDER BY clause in SQL to sort data in ascending order.
ASC | DESC Specifies that the values in the specified column should be sorted in ascending or descending order. ASC sorts from the lowest value to highest value. DESC sorts from highest value to lowest value. ASC is the default sort order. NULL values are treated as the lowest possible values.
The ORDER BY keyword is used to sort the result-set in ascending or descending order. The ORDER BY keyword sorts the records in ascending order by default. To sort the records in descending order, use the DESC keyword.
You can use the ASC and DESC keywords to specify ascending (smallest value first) or descending (largest value first) order. The default order is ascending. For DATE and DATETIME data types, smallest means earliest in time and largest means latest in time.
