Manually adjust brightness On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Open Displays settings for me. Drag the Brightness slider on the right to adjust the brightness of your display.
No. There is nothing controlling the color of the light. It's just an array of LEDs turned on to light up the keyboard. To change the color, you will need to use a color filter to filter the light with a color.
Turn on the ambient light sensor so your Mac can automatically adjust brightness based on current ambient lighting conditions. Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Displays in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down), then turn on Automatically adjust brightness or Ambient light compensation on the right.
If your display is dark, check the brightness level, check that your Mac and display are turned on and not in sleep, and make sure cables are connected. Check the brightness level: Try adjusting your display's brightness. Check that your Mac is not in sleep: Press the Space bar or any other key to see if the Mac wakes.
To confirm, you can adjust your auto-brightness settings under System Preferences > Displays > Automatically adjust brightness. Try toggling that off, restarting, then toggle it on again and test the issue.
With Option + Shift + Keyboard Brightness Up or Option + Shift + Keyboard Brightness Down, you can adjust the display brightness in smaller steps.
Check Keyboard Function Key Settings The F1 and F2 Function Keys on your Mac keyboard are meant to change the display brightness manually. But if they have been made to be used as Standard Function Keys, you won't be able to use them for changing the brightness levels.
Alternatively, you can go to 'System Preferences -> Dock and Menu Bar -> Keyboard Brightness' and enable the checkbox next to 'Show in Menu Bar'. You can now click on this icon in the menu bar to change the keyboard brightness without going to the Control Center every time.
Click on the Apple menu and choose System Settings. Select the Keyboard pane and deselect the box next to 'Adjust keyboard brightness in low light. ' Use the slider to choose the proper level of brightness or, depending on your Mac model, press F1 repeatedly, Fn-F, or use the relevant button on the Touch Bar.
Some MacBooks are equipped with ambient light sensors(Opens in a new window), and will attempt to automatically adjust the screen brightness to compensate for changes in surrounding light.
