Hi, its usually hard to tell if an LED is on or off in direct sunlight. On the other hand the same LED can be blinding when its dark. Have you ever wondered how to overcome this problem by making an LED brighter in direct sunlight and dimmer in low light automatically? In this short video Ill show you how to do it easily and without using a microcontroller. The main component is a photocell, also called a photoresistor. Its basically a variable resistor sensitive to light. The more light it detects, the less resistant it becomes. You can buy photocells with different light and dark resistance values. Mine goes to about 200 ohms in very bright light, so it wont damage the LED. Lets build this extremely simple circuit. Place an LED on a breadboard and connect the positive lead to the photocell. Connect GND to the LEDs negative lead and +5V to the remaining photocells lead. As you can see, the LED becomes brighter or dimmer instantly depending on the amount of light the photocell
