Change the spacing between characters Select the text that you want to change. On the Home tab, click the Font Dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Advanced tab. In the Spacing box, click Expanded or Condensed, and then specify how much space you want in the By box.
Set your cursor to the location of the paragraph spacing. Click on the Line and Paragraph Spacing icon in the Home Ribbon. Select Remove Extra Space to remove the extra space.
The letter-spacing property controls the amount of space between each letter in a given element or block of text. Values supported by letter-spacing include font-relative values ( em , rem ), absolute values ( px ) and the normal property, which resets to the fonts default.
There is spacing set in the before and after paragraph spacing, or the spacing is set to more than single. To correct it, select the text or Ctrl+A to select all of the text in the document. Hit Format Paragraph and put zeroes in the Spacing Before and After boxes, and set the spacing to Single.

Select Format and choose Font. Under Size, if you want to increase the size of the spaces between words, select a font size larger than the one used in the text. If you want to make the spaces smaller, select a smaller size.
Kerning is the spacing between individual letters or characters. Unlike tracking, which adjusts the amount of space between the letters of an entire word in equal increments, kerning is focused on how type looks creating readable text thats visually pleasing.
Letter Spacing Issues in Word If your fonts kerning looks incorrect (i.e. the letters arent properly spaced, or they look abnormally squished together) try this tip to fix it: Just go to Format Font Advanced and then check Kerning for Fonts points and above (you can choose any number you want.)
