hi iamp;#39;m phil steele should you shoot your photos in the raw file format or the jpeg format now there are some photography teachers who would have you believe that you should always shoot raw and that jpegs are strictly for amateurs but nothing could be further from the truth the fact is there are some situations where raw is better and some situations where jpeg is better and itamp;#39;s important that you understand the difference so in this video weamp;#39;re going to look at the advantages and disadvantages of raw and jpeg weamp;#39;ll clearly define which situations call for which file type and will finally lay this old myth to rest i have a confession to make i shoot jpeg more often than i shoot raw now ing to some arrogant photography teachers out there this brands me as an amateur but the fact is most of the photography that i do is more suitable to jpegs the choice of raw or jpeg is less about your level of photography expertise than it is about the kind of ph

In-Camera RAW filter, Start by examining the histogram, ensuring it spans the entire tonal range without clipping shadows or highlights. Adjust the exposure slider to recover details in underexposed or overexposed areas while keeping an eye on the histograms shape.
Correcting the perspective in-camera A tilt shift lens keeps verticals correct by allowing you to photograph from a level position. Once the camera is level, instead of tilting up like you would with a regular lens, you shift upwards on the lens, all while keeping the camera level.
A darkroom technician can correct perspective distortion in the printing process. It is usually done by exposing the paper at an angle to the film, with the paper raised toward the part of the image that is larger, therefore not allowing the light from the enlarger to spread as much as the other side of the exposure.
About lens corrections You can correct for these apparent distortions and aberrations using the Lens Corrections tab of the Camera Raw dialog box. Vignetting causes the edges, especially the corners, of an image to be darker than the center.
Any adjustments due to the iso setting is applied after raw capture and digitization and affects only the jpeg and the display. It does not affect the raw captured. The raw image is completely independent of the iso chosen. Once I have set the aperture and the shutter speed, exposure needs no further thought.
Adjust color or tone using the Targeted Adjustment tool In the preview image, dragging the tool up or right increases values; dragging down or left decreases values. Sliders for more than one color may be affected when you drag with the Targeted Adjustment tool. Drag the Point Curve to make adjustments to an image.
Youll find the Straighten Tool in the toolbar along the top left of the Camera Raw dialog box (directly to the right of the Crop Tool). Unlike the Crop Tool, the Straighten Tool doesnt have any hidden menu options so to select it, simply click on its icon.
Now, its important to note, its always better to correct perspective as early as you can in your workflow. So if youre working with RAW files, its better to select them in Bridge, and choose open in Camera Raw and use the geometry panel to correct the perspective.
