when you created your DAF gang project and in design you generated a PDF the percent to the image setter and that is where this printing plate came from you should be aware of two properties on the printing plate we have the image area here which is the silver halide that is very receptive to ink and it does not like water it is hydrophobic now the black area is the non image area and that accepts water that is hydrophilic so the concept that oil and water do not mix is one of the tenants of offset lithographic printing if you think of the ink as the oil silver halide and the water as the clear area here the two will not mix okay so now were going to punch the two holes in the printing plate were going to bend it and were going to mind it on the machine for printing the press has a semi-automatic plate mounting system so all I need to do is push one button several times through cycle to the plate and Im going to do that right now we will hear a series of beeps and that will prompt

The best way to manage dot gain in a screen-printing environment is to isolate and control the production variables, then run some print tests to determine when and where dot gain occurs so that your artists can compensate for the gain in the artwork itself. Off-contact impacts dot gain in production the most.
There are basically two types of dot gain, optical and mechanical. Mechanical comes from the presses, and there are all kinds of factors that play a role. Each machine, and each printing method has its own rules and quirks when it comes to dot gain.
Entering your settings into Photoshop. In Photoshop, choose Edit Color Settings. You can now enter your dot gain values obtained from your printing company.
Assuming correct exposure of the plate and the correct press settings, the factors that would influence the dot gain are the rheology of the ink (specifically its viscosity), the hardness of the litho blanket and the surface of the paper along with its ink absorption characteristics.
For example: if the flat tint of the piece is measured at 60%, while the intended flat tint was 50%, the printed piece would have a dot gain of 10% (60%-50%=10%). Note the use of % is treated like a unit of measure such as inches, kilograms, etc. rather than a real percentage.
Dot gain is caused by ink spreading around halftone dots. Several factors can contribute to the increase in halftone dot area. Different paper types have different ink absorption rates; uncoated papers can absorb more ink than coated ones, and thus can show more gain.
Total dot gain is the difference between the dot size on the film negative and the corresponding printed dot size. For example, a dot pattern that covers 30% of the image area on film, but covers 50% when printed, is said to show a total dot gain of 20%.
Dot gain is a measure of the difference between the actual ink dot size of the printed piece and the ink dot size specified by the source file. It refers to ink dots appearing larger on the printed piece due to either a mechanical or optical effect.
