hello and welcome to the video by Trump Excel I am so miss Mansell and in this video I am going to show you how to highlight the active row and the active column based on the cell selection in your data set so here I have this data set and see what happens when I make a selection it would instantly highlight the row number the active row and the active column based on this cell selection and when I make a change in this election it would remove the previous highlight and it would highlight based on this selection now this is useful if you have a huge data set and you want to track what is the column which is the column that you have selected or which is the row that you have selected then you can use this method now you do not have to use the same color you can use different colors so in this case when I make a selection here you can see the column and the row gets highlighted in different colors now lets see how to create this so I have this data set here and I have not created that

Quick formatting On the Home tab, in the Style group, click the arrow next to Conditional Formatting, and then click Highlight Cells Rules. Select the command you want, such as Between, Equal To Text that Contains, or A Date Occurring. Enter the values you want to use, and then select a format.
Select the cells with the Excel Style. Right-click the applied style in Home Cell Styles. Select Modify Format to change what you want.
You can drag an area with your mouse, hold down SHIFT and click in two cells to select all the ones between them, or hold down CTRL and click to add individual cells. Then type in your selected text. Finally, hit CTRL+ENTER (instead of enter) and itll be entered into all the selected cells.
Under Personal, click Appearance. On the Highlight color pop-up menu, click the color that you want. Note: You must close and then reopen Excel to see the new highlight color.
Select the cell or range of cells you want to format. Click Home Format Cells dialog launcher, or press Ctrl+Shift+F. On the Fill tab, under Background Color, pick the color you want.

Click Format. In the Format Cells dialog box, click the Fill tab. Select the background or pattern color that you want to use for the shaded rows, and then click OK. At this point, the color you just selected should appear in the Preview window in the New Formatting Rule dialog box.
