The knee should be fully straight by the end of week twelve at the absolute latest.
Place your unaffected leg under your affected leg, fully supporting it. Slowly let your affected knee bend by lowering your feet. At some point, you will feel a gentle stretch. Hold for the desired amount of time, and then use your unaffected side to help straighten your knee out once again.

Full knee flexion after ACL surgery is typically achieved gradually over time, with about 90 degrees of knee flexion reached by the end of week one post-op and full knee flexion achieved by week 4-6.

The most common complication and cause for poorer outcomes following ACL reconstruction is motion loss, particularly loss of full knee extension. The inability to fully extend the knee results in abnormal joint motions, scar tissue formation in the front of the knee joint, and subtle changes in normal knee mobility.
Tighten the muscles on top of your thigh by pressing the back of your knee flat down to the floor. (If you feel discomfort under your kneecap, place a small towel roll under your knee.) Hold for about 6 seconds, then rest for up to 10 seconds. Do 8 to 12 repetitions several times a day.
