Im sure youve come across this, you have this PDF with hundreds of pages and if youre lucky, it has a nice clickable table of contents in the beginning. But every time youre looking for a different topic you have to go back to the beginning, find a table of contents and then navigate to the section youre looking for. Wouldnt it be nice if you could just have the table of contents always in view, no matter where you are in the document. Fortunately, there is a solution for this and its called Bookmarks. Youll see them in the navigation pane on the side here. By clicking on a bookmark, you can easily jump to that section without having to go back to the table of contents. Replace all headers and footers Open the PDF file containing header and footer. Select the Edit mega verb from the global bar and select Header and footer Update and then select Replace Existing in the dialog box that appears. Replace existing header and footer. Specify the settings as needed, and select OK.
Creating a Bookmark Hierarchy Select the bookmark or range of bookmarks you want to nest. Do one of the following: Drag the icon or icons directly underneath the parent bookmark icon. The Line icon shows the position of the icon or icons. Release the bookmark and the bookmark is nested.
To delete the bookmark, select it and click the Garbage Can icon. To rename any bookmark, right click on the bookmark in question, and select Rename. Then, type the new name. To place a bookmark under another bookmark, so it becomes a child bookmark, select the bookmark on question and drag to the right.
Start the docHub Acrobat application and open a PDF file with the bookmarks using File Open menu. Select Plug-Ins Bookmarks Sort Sort Pages to open the Sorting Pages dialog. Click OK to sort pages. The order of pages will be changed to conform to the order they appear in the bookmark tree.
In top menu bar select View Show/Hide Navigation Panes Bookmarks. The way to display bookmarks depends on your browser and version. Here are some ways. Click on the Bookmark icon in the vertical icon list on the left side of the window.
In the Bookmarks side panel, select a bookmark. From the Options menu, select Properties. In the Bookmark Properties dialog box, select Actions. Choose an action from the Select Action list, and select Add.
To do this: Select and double-click the bookmark that you want to rename. The Bookmark dialog opens, with the bookmarks in that topic listed. In the ID (New bookmark) field, type a new name for the bookmark. Click Update. This changes the bookmark name in the topic. Click Save.
