Gmail allows you to change a subject line of an existing email thread when you respond in the thread. When you do this, youre actually copying over the existing email thread and creating a new thread with your response and the new subject line.

To edit the subject line when answering or resending an email in Gmail, follow these steps: Open the email you want to reply to or resend. Click the Reply or Reply all button.
