okay hi there mr automation is back uh with a remake of one of the videos i promised or another video i need to do a lot more at this time itamp;#39;s about the acl video i created one in the past but video quality was not that good i couldnamp;#39;t watch it on my tablet for instance i could hardly watch it on my laptop so thatamp;#39;s why iamp;#39;m recreating it with better resolution more scaled up so to speak right today weamp;#39;re going to set acl with powershell like we did before we get some content from a server text file right those are the systems we need to target we create a new acl and store that we loop through all those servers we set an icl on the remote system right we take a folder or a file and we stick the acl on that then we verify the permissions on one server at least you know so you have some proof and after that perhaps we run the script again with the get acl to see what we actually set you know thereamp;#39;s some but you can validate if the permiss

The two important command-line tools for managing ACLs are setfacl and getfacl . These commands are used to create or change ACLs, and to read the contents of an ACL, respectively.
The ACL mask. The mask entry indicates the maximum permissions allowed for users (other than the owner) and for groups. The mask is a quick way to change permissions on all the users and groups.
(dot) suffix indicates an SELinux context is present. Details may be listed with the command ls -Z. @ suffix indicates extended file attributes are present. ing to the Filesystem permissions wiki page, the dot indicates a SELinux context is present.
#sudo setfacl -Rbk Here -R recursively, -b remove all permissions for user/groups -k remove default acl (mask). By issuing this command it will remove the plus (+) sign seen on the ls output, but it will not remove the dot (.) sign from the ls output. #setfattr -x security.
How to Delete ACL Entries From a File Delete ACL entries from a file by using the setfacl command. $ setfacl -d acl-entry-list filename -d. Deletes the specified ACL entries. acl-entry-list. To verify that the ACL entries were deleted from the file, by using the getfacl command. $ getfacl filename.
So, the setfacl command is a Linux utility for setting and modifying file and directory access control lists (ACLs). -m or modify=acl: modify permissions. -x or remove=acl: remove permissions. -b or remove-all: remove all permissions. -d or default: apply default permission to newly created files along the path.
The ACL mask is used to set the maximum effective permissions for the group owner of a file, named users of a file, and named groups of a file. The maximum permissions of the owner or others are the ones that are set using chmod and not controlled by the ACL mask.
The + indicates that the file has an Access Control List (ACL) with additional permissions. getfacl {dir/file} to get more info on what is set.
