Q. How to Indent the First Line of Every Paragraph in Microsoft Word Open the Paragraph dialog box. Find the Indentations section. Click the drop down menu under Special. Enter the indent size. Click OK to save your changes and apply them to the document.
Select the text you want to adjust. Go to Home and select Line and Paragraph Spacing Line Spacing Options at the bottom of the menu. The Paragraph dialog box opens. On the Indents and Spacing tab, select the options you want, and click OK.
Changing indents in the Paragraph window You can also place the cursor in the paragraph, right-click with your mouse, and chose Paragraph. As seen below in the Paragraph window, under the Indentation section, the left and right indent settings can be adjusted.
Change the level of indent for a paragraph Select the text you want to change, then do one of the following: To increase or decrease the left indent of the whole paragraph, on the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Increase List Level or Decrease List Level.
Right-click the highlighted text and select Paragraph. In the Indentation section, open the Special drop-down menu and select Hanging. Use the By feature to adjust the depth of the indent. The standard depth is 0.5 inches (1.27 cm). Click OK.
One simple way to indent text is to place the cursor at the start of a paragraph and hit the tab key on your keyboard. In Microsoft Word, this adds a 0.5 (1.27cm) indent at the left margin.
Paragraphs need to be indented inch, or 1 cm. To do this, click on the first line scroll down to the bottom hold shift and click on the last line. In the View tab make sure your Ruler is visible. Then drag the upper triangle over by inch.
