hi my names Brad Cunningham today Im going to talk about how and why you would use a content presenter inside a control template in WPF so well start with a quick example Ive got a button on my form and thats it its inside a grid Ive got a height and a width set and I set the content to a string that just says click me now when I go to retain plet this button Im going to open up the button tag and Im going to change its template property so Im going to say button dot template and Im going to set it equal to a control template and as soon as I do that you can see that the visual disappears on my designer up top because Ive told WPF to replace the visual tree or the control template for my button with whatevers inside my control template tag which as of right now is blank so lets set that to be something instead of blank well set it to an ellipse and well go ahead and set a height and a width for now and were not looking at a template binding today so Im just going to g

In WPF, the default font family for text displayed on controls (like Label and Button) is Segoe UI, with a default size of 12.0 device-independent units. Because a device-independent unit is 1/96 inch, a FontSize value of 12 represents characters whose capitals are 1/8 high.
A4 = 297mm * 210mm but also is 8 * 11.5, hence the above math works!
Content Control is a base class that provides standardised functionality to WPF Controls. The Content Control class represents controls that can include a single item of content. This content is commonly plain text or a child control. Content Control is a subclass of the Control class in WPF.
You can put the content of the window into a UserControl. Your window then only has a content-control and a button to change the content. On a click on the button you can reassign the content-property of the content-control. Ive made a small example for this.

In Windows Forms, control sizes are specified using pixels. In WPF, sizes are specified using WPF Units. 1 WPF unit = 1/96 inch. This means at 96 dpi (typical), 1 WPF Unit = 1 pixel.
The ContentControl can contain any type of common language runtime object (such as a string or a DateTime object) or a UIElement object (such as a Rectangle or a Panel). This enables you to add rich content to controls such as Button and CheckBox.
SizeToContent property of Window indicates whether a window will automatically size itself to fit the size of its content. This value is a type of SizeToContent enumeration that has four values Manual, Width, Height, and WidthAndHeight.
