hi and welcome students in this Microsoft Excel 2016 tutorial Im gonna show you how to change column width and adjust row height lets get started so youll see that I have my Excel spreadsheet here and the first column that Im interested in looking at is column a youll see here that not all of the text is fitting with it the columns so youll see that if I click on a four it actually is supposed to say North Miami but it only says North here thats because Miami is being cut off you can even see it down here in cell a6 this is supposed to say East Miami but it just says East and then half of em the way that Excel reacts to text being too short for too long for the column is itll actually cut it off and so youll see that right there now this is a distinct difference from what it does with numbers and you can see and column B here we have these pound signs down and column B if you click on this youre gonna see that the actual number here is 2,000 same if you hover over it it says

To AutoFit column width: The AutoFit feature will allow you to set a columns width to fit its content automatically. Position the mouse over the column line in the column heading so the cursor becomes a double arrow. Double-click the mouse. The column width will be changed automatically to fit the content.
To autofit a single column, hover the mouse pointer over the right border of the column header until the double-headed arrow appears, and then double click the border. To autofit multiple columns, select them, and double click any boundary between two column headers in the selection.
Width: Resize the column width by placing the pointer on the right edge of the column heading until the pointer changes to a double-header arrow. Click and drag to the right until the column expands to the width you want.
Right-click the row number or column letter. Click Resize row or Resize column. Then, choose an option: Enter a custom height or width.
Before adjusting the column width, make sure the tables preferred width option is not checked. To resize a column without affecting other columns, move the gray column markers on the ruler instead of dragging cell edges. Works like a charm.
