To change formatting in a document, insert a section break at the beginning of where you want the change. Set up the formatting change just past the new section break. If you want to change formatting again, put in another section break. If your changes are to be on the same page, choose the Continuous section break.
Change a section break Click or tap in the section break you want to change. Go to Layout and select the Page Setup launcher button . Select the Layout tab. Select a new section type from the Section Start drop down list. Select OK.
Select where you want a new section to begin. Go to Layout Breaks, and then choose the type of section break you want. Next Page Starts the new section on the following page.
In the Caption dialog box click Numbering. Select the Include chapter number check box. In the Chapter starts with style list, select the heading style that was applied to the chapter heading. In the Use separator list, select a punctuation mark to separate the chapter number from the caption number.
Click and drag to rearrange pages, or use keyboard shortcuts. Press Ctrl + X to cut a page, move your cursor to where you want to insert it, and press Ctrl + V to paste. For longer documents, utilize headers or section breaks. Go to the Layout tab, select Breaks, and choose either Next Page or Section Break.
Number your headings Open your document that uses built-in heading styles, and select the first Heading 1. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List. Under List Library, choose the numbering style you would like to use in your document.
As youre editing and formatting your document, you may need to see page and section breaks. To view existing page and section breaks in Word, on the Home tab, then click on the Paragraph button. The Paragraph button allows you to see formatting.
Click in the section that you want to change. On the Format menu, select Document, and then select the Layout tab. In the Section start list, choose the kind of section break that you want.
