Section breaks enable you to split a document into several sections, enabling you to apply different formatting and layouts to each section. For instance, having two sections in a document enables one section to have portrait orientation and the other to have landscape orientation.
Once your cursor is in the position where you want to add a page break, simply press Ctrl + Enter.

The Continuous Break is similar to the Next Page break. This allows you to begin a new section but does so on the same page instead of the next page. This is handy if you want a change in format on the same page. For example, you may want to transition from a three-column to a single-column layout on the same page.
Click the Layout tab. In the Section start drop-down list, select the type of section you want to change it to (New page is the same as Next page under Insert Break.
You can use section breaks to change the layout or formatting of pages in your document. To change formatting in a document, insert a section break at the beginning of where you want the change.
