In 1939 Poland, school teacher Władysława Karolewska joins the anti-German resistance as a courier after her country is invaded. She is arrested in February 1941 and, after interrogation, sent to Ravensbrueck concentration camp, where she becomes part of Nazi medical experiments. These experiments involved horrendous procedures, such as deliberate infection of bones and muscles, nerve dissection, and the introduction of virulent substances. Karolewska survives these brutalities and later testifies against the Nazis, shedding light on the dark medical horrors faced by prisoners. Her story exemplifies the suffering endured by many women in similar situations during this period.
