Today we are going to show you how you can configure and enforce Azure multi-factor authentication and secure your authentications. Letamp;#39;s start. Using Microsoft 365 admin center Log in to the Microsoft 365 admin center. Navigate to Settings Org Settings Modern Authentication. Verify Turn on modern authentication for Outlook 2013 for Windows and later (recommended) is checked. If not, select the checkbox. Click Save.
Beginning in early 2023, we disabled Basic authentication for all tenants who had any type of extension. You can read more about the timing here. In Office 365 Operated by 21Vianet, we began disabling Basic authentication on March 31, 2023. All other cloud environments were subject to the October 1, 2022 date.
To enable the Security Defaults: Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as least a Security Administrator. Browse to Identity Overview Properties. Select Manage security defaults. Set Security defaults to Enabled. Select Save.
Go to M365 Admin portal Active Users select the account that needs basic re-enabled. Select mail tab Manage EMail Apps. Check Authenticated SMTP and then Apply. That account now can use port 587 and send receive mail with authenticated SMTP.
Re-enabling Basic Auth for Protocols Log in to Microsoft 365 admin center. On the home page, click Help Support on the bottom right corner of the screen. In the Search field, enter Diag: Enable Basic Auth in EXO. Click Search. Select the required protocol from Protocol to Enable drop-down.
Manage Basic authentication in the Microsoft 365 admin center. In the Microsoft 365 admin center at , go Settings Org Settings Modern Authentication. In the Modern authentication flyout that appears, you can identify the protocols that no longer require Basic authentication.
In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings Org Settings Modern Authentication.
Steps To Change Authenticator Verification Method: Select Security Info in the left navigation pane. Click Change next to Default sign-in method in the right pane. Select Authenticator app or hardware - code in the Change default method pull-down menu. Click Confirm to commit the change. (
