Both the AFP client and the server use the National Institute of Standards and Technology Data Encryption Standard (NIST DES) algorithm to encrypt the random number.
Starting from macOS 11.0 Big Sur, Apple no longer supports AFP servers. As such, using AFP to connect to Synology NAS may pose increased security risks for clients and result in the inability to obtain technical support from Apple. For security reasons, Synology will terminate AFP Service in future DSM versions.
To disable AFP on your QTS or QuTS hero NAS device, you will have to go to Control Panel Network File Services Win/Mac/NFS/WebDAV Apple Networkingand select Disable AFP (Apple Filing Protocol).
To disable SIP, do the following: Restart your computer in Recovery mode. Launch Terminal from the Utilities menu. Run the command csrutil disable . Restart your computer.
