Archers with a 27-inch draw length might shoot arrows anywhere from 26 to 29 inches long, depending on where your arrow rest is mounted, and how much arrow extends in front of the riser when youre at full draw. Use the arrow length you intend to shoot when consulting the spine charts.
Depending on what arrow rest you have and where you want the end of your arrow to sit on the shelf, you might be able to shoot an arrow thats anywhere from 28.5 to 31 inches long. At its shortest, an arrow can be just long enough to sit on your rest at full draw.
Youll find the Straighten Tool in the toolbar along the top left of the Camera Raw dialog box (directly to the right of the Crop Tool). Unlike the Crop Tool, the Straighten Tool doesnt have any hidden menu options so to select it, simply click on its icon.
To make tone curve adjustments using the Targeted Adjustment tool, choose Parametric Curve. Then, drag the tool in the preview image. The Parametric Curve Targeted Adjustment tool adjusts the Highlights, Lights, Darks, or Shadows curve region based on the values in the image where you click.
For complete beginners I tend to use Easton Neo alloy shafts, they are 1618 and at full length 32 inches. They are great arrows for low poundage bows, up to about 24-26lb at 28 above that they get a bit whippy. Another good arrow for a slightly more experienced archer is the Easton Jazz. They range from 14130 to 1916.
A rule of thumb is that one should add one inch to the draw length. For example yours is 28 (which is standard, by the way), then choose one that is 29 long. An arrow that is too short might hit your own hand while shooting, so keep that in mind!
Located at the bottom-center of the Camera Raw plug-ins window youll find the Size pop-up menu. By default, the menu is set to the pixel dimensions of image as captured by the camera. However, you have the option of resizing the image to (for most cameras) 50%, 66.7%, 133%, 167%, and 200%.
Your arrow length should be longer than your draw length to allow the arrow to clear the bow or arrow rest and more importantly not to come off your rest if you over draw slightly as this could be dangerous.
Targeted Adjustment Brush Select the tool (it looks like a plain paintbrush), then the adjustment option pop up in the right-hand sidebar. The top section on the sidebar contains adjustments that work much like the sliders for editing an entire Raw image.
