Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can create your very own fillable form using Microsoft Word. First off, what is a fillable form? You can have people go in and fill out a form, but they wont be able to edit the questions or the structure of the form. You can use things like check boxes, text fields, drop down lists, date pickers, to build your form. Once someones finished completing your form, they can e-mail it back, they could print it out, or you could even connect it to a database. Connecting to a database is outside of the scope of todays tutorial. Its kind of like an docHub PDF form, but its Microsofts version of it. Ive included sample files today if you want to follow along, otherwise lets jump on the PC and lets get started. Add a text box Go to Insert Text Box. Click in your file where youd like to insert the text box, hold your mouse button down, then drag to draw the text box the size that you want. After youve drawn the text box click inside it to add text.
Edit a Microsoft Word document Click the. Edit. tab. Select the text that you want to edit. Using the tools in the edit toolbar, change the required formatting including font style, paragraph alignment, list formatting, and indentation options.
Enable editing in your document Go to File Info. Select Protect document. Select Enable Editing.
Unlock a protected document On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Restrict Editing. In the Restrict Editing task pane, click Stop Protection. If you are prompted to provide a password, type the password.
Did you insert the text box from the gallery at Insert | Text Box? In that case, the text box may contain a content control which has predefined content. You will have to switch to Design Mode to edit that content.
Select the text you want to format. Select an option to change the font, font size, font color, or make the text bold, italics, or underline.
From the Insert tab, Text group, click on the down arrow next to Object and choose Text from file.
