AIS or Annual Information Statement (AIS) is a statement launched by income tax department in November 2021. The aim was to provide consolidated view of the financial transactions undertaken by an individual of which tax department has information about.
Form 26AS helps in computation of income and to claim the tax credits at the time of filing Income Tax Return (ITR) on income. A taxpayer can confirm the verification of refunds during the applicable financial or assessment year using Form 26AS.
If you download the PDF file, it is password protected. To unlock AIS, enter the password as: PAN (in lower case) and the date of birth in case of individual taxpayer or date of incorporation/formation for a non-individual taxpayer in the format DDMMYYYY without any space.
What is Form 26AS? Form 26AS is a consolidated annual tax statement that shows the details of tax deducted at source, tax collected at source, advance tax paid by the assessee along with self-assessment tax.
The income tax department has said that Form 26AS will now reflect only TDS and TCS. Any other tax deposited such as self-assessment tax, advance tax will now be reflected in the AIS. Hence, both the documents are important to file ITR.
Step 1: Login to URL . Step 2: After login, click Annual Information Statement (AIS) menu on dashboard. Step 3: Click on Proceed button which will redirect to AIS portal and click on AIS tile to view the Annual Information Statement.
You can do this by logging into your account on the income tax e-filing portal and selecting the AIS option. From there, you can select the relevant financial year and click on the Revise button. You will then be able to make the necessary changes to the AIS and submit it again.

Form 26AS displays details of property purchases, high-value investments, and TDS/TCS transactions carried out during the financial year.
