Implementing a trait on a type is similar to implementing regular methods. The difference is that after impl , we put the trait name we want to implement, then use the for keyword, and then specify the name of the type we want to implement the trait for.
Nothing in Rust prevents a trait from having a method with the same name as another traits method, nor can it prevent us from implementing both of these traits on one type. Its also possible to have a method implemented directly on the type with the same name as methods from traits as well!
A trait is a language feature that tells the Rust compiler about functionality a type must provide. As you can see, the trait block looks very similar to the impl block, but we dont define a body, only a type signature.
Object Safety Not have any type parameters (although lifetime parameters are allowed). Be a method that does not use Self except in the type of the receiver. Have a receiver with one of the following types: Not have an opaque return type; that is,
The Into trait is simply the reciprocal of the From trait. That is, if you have implemented the From trait for your type, Into will call it when necessary. Using the Into trait will typically require specification of the type to convert into as the compiler is unable to determine this most of the time.
In Rust, a trait is a language feature that allows you to define abstract behaviours and methods that other types can implement, making it possible to abstract over behaviour. Traits define shared behaviour that different types can have in common.
The impl keyword is primarily used to define implementations on types. Inherent implementations are standalone, while trait implementations are used to implement traits for types, or other traits. Functions and consts can both be defined in an implementation.
In order to implement default trait methods, the trait must have functions defined within its own definition, and not just function signatures. And implementing default trait behavior requires no additional boilerplate code other than telling the rust compiler that there will be a trait implemented for a given struct.
