The HTML element defines a paragraph. A paragraph always starts on a new line, and browsers automatically add some white space (a margin) before and after a paragraph.

In HTML and XHTML, each paragraph should start with and end with the corresponding tag. And while a sequence of newline characters in a text processor-displayed document creates an empty paragraph for each one, browsers typically ignore all but the first paragraph tag.
To add a new paragraph in HTML, place your insertion mark cursor into the HTML document where you want to add the new paragraph. Then type the paragraph start tag: . Then type the paragraphs text. At the end of the new paragraphs text, type the end tag: .
To use the tag, simply add the tag wherever you want a line break to appear in your code. In the example above, the tag is used to insert a line break between the two lines of text, all within the same element. This is what the text will look like: This is a paragraph.
The tag inserts a single line break. The tag is useful for writing addresses or poems.
The HTML element represents a paragraph.
To add a line break to your HTML code, you use the tag. The tag does not have an end tag. You can also add additional lines between paragraphs by using the tags.
