i'm going to walk you through a new tool that fred jonas and i have been working on so thank you mr jonas for your input on this and this is a tool that we're calling the sdw text annotation tool let's start with just kind of a a brief understanding of what the tool is so when a student reads text one of the key strategies is annotating that text so that in effect when they're finished with that text they can kind of look back at the details that they've pulled out the quotes reflections they've had questions they've asked along the way literary devices that they found and begin to make sense out of that then begin to kind of begin the process of analyzing um and evaluating the work making inferences about the work as a whole and so traditionally when students do this they'll do this on paper as they read and they'll they'll take notes as they go um which is a perfectly fine system one of the uh flaws in that system however though is that at the end of the text especially really long...
