An ear tag is a small lump of skin, fat, or cartilage in front of the ear that some babies are born with. Doctors can remove ear tags with surgery.
Skin tags and pits just in front of the opening of the ear are common in newborn infants. In most cases, these are normal. However, they can be associated with other medical conditions. It is important to point out skin tags or pits to your childs health care provider during the routine well-child exam.
Because theyre harmless, a skin tag only needs to be removed if it: Becomes irritated or bleeds. Develops on your eyelid and affects your eyesight. Feels painful, especially when the pain comes on suddenly.
Call your doctor or nurse advice line now or seek immediate medical care if: Your child has signs of infection such as: Pain, warmth, or swelling in the skin. Red streaks near a wound in the skin.
What are Patient Tags? Patient Tags is a feature that allows you to add classification labels (or tags) to a patients chart. Patient Tags will allow you to see short notes about your patients without having to open their patient demographic section.
Infant skin tags are different from adult skin tags because they may not just be skin. Infant skin tags can contain fat and cartilage. Infant skin tags may occur by themselves or as as a result of potential issues with the inner ear, facial bones, and/or kidney.
